The Tiger Barb is native to Borneo and Malaysia, including Sarawak and Kalimantan. They can also be found on the island of Sumatra. Tiger Barbs are popular aquarium fish which can live for up to 7 years

The tiger barb is scientifically known as Puntigrus tetrazona but used to be referred to as Puntius tetrazona and Capoeta tetrazona.

With personalities just as colourful as their scales, tiger barbs are delightful little fish to have in your aquarium. It’s easy to see why they are so popular and well-loved. You can be sure that a group of tiger barbs will leave just the right impression on your tropical freshwater aquarium.  These fish look their best in schools of at least 5 fish.

Tiger Barbs particularly look stunning in a planted aquarium where their striking contrasting colours and patterns seem to come alive.
