The Black and White Ocellaris Clownfish, also recognized as the Black Perc, Black Percula Clown Anemonefish, or Black and White False Percula Clown, is commonly encountered alongside anemones on Coral Sea reefs. It can be spotted alone or more frequently in pairs or small groups within the same anemone species like Heteractis magnifica or Stichodactyla mertensii. These captive-bred clownfish can reach a maximum size of 3 inches in aquariums and can be housed individually or in groups.

Distinguished by its ebony body and three white stripes on each flank, the Black and White Ocellaris Clownfish is notably recognizable. It boasts robust resilience, making it an ideal choice for both novice and experienced aquarium enthusiasts.

This species thrives in reef aquarium setups and can coexist harmoniously if introduced simultaneously; multiple variations of tank-raised clowns can cohabitate in the same aquarium.

Captive-bred clownfish are easily bred in domestic aquariums. The female in the pair generally tends to be larger, and the two fish typically maintain proximity. These fish are egg-layers, carefully placing their eggs on flat surfaces and safeguarding them from other tank inhabitants. Depending on the temperature, the eggs typically hatch within 6-11 days. The fry must be nurtured separately in another aquarium and fed a diet of rotifers followed by baby brine shrimp.

Omnivorous by nature, tank-raised clownfish require a combination of protein-rich foods and some plant matter in their diet. They readily accept high-quality marine flake food, particularly those enriched with spirulina algae, as well as freeze-dried and frozen offerings.
